Newborn Shoot

Congratulations on your beautiful little one!!!  These first two weeks of your child's life are so precious and you don't want to forget those brief weeks as your newborn rapidly starts to grow up.  Thanks to the miracle of photography, you can freeze a moment in time and look back on how tiny those hands really were and that yummy newborn peach fuzz.

Here are ways to make the most of your session and help me get the best images for you.

Things To Remember For the Session:
1) Please please please feed your little one as closely to the start of the session as you can.  DON'T worry about being late because taking the time to make sure your little one is satisfied will help the session go by smoothly.  Being full ensures that your newborn sleeps through the session and gives us more freedom to get the perfect pose!

2) Blankets/outfits/special memorabilia  This is your unique and special child.  I believe that if I load your baby up with my own props, you will miss out on special personalized keepsakes.  Is there a blanket that your baby came home in?  Is there an outfit that you wore as a baby?  Is there a special stuffed animal that has been with you since childhood?  Or the baby got from his/her great grandmother?  BRING IT!

3) If we take naked photos, your baby is going to poo/pee on the blankets and that is okay.  It's what babies do and I expect it. Some of the most popular poses for newborns are naked and knowing that this bowel movements are going to happen is just part of the business.

4) Relax and be patient.  Sometimes it takes awhile to calm a baby in a new environment and nothing is more soothing to a newborn than the calm relaxed voice of their mother.  You never need to apologize to me when your baby is crying and/or won't cooperate.  I expect newborn sessions to run longer.

5) Tell me about the things that you most love about your newborn.  Their little sideburns? Their fuzzy back hair?  Their wrinkly back?  I'm going to be taking as many detail shots as I can but I need to know what little parts you most want to remember because those tiny toes that you love to kiss will be gone before you know it but the memories and the pictures will be yours forever.

I can't wait to meet your bundle of pure joy!  Congratulations!
