Found Color Film

Since I found that wonderful random roll of black and white film the other day, I decided to clean out my camera drawer (yes...I have a whole drawer of camera things in my house) and I found a roll of color film that had been used.  At least, I hoped that it had been used since it had been rolled in like it had been used.

Got it developed and that only want that I could identify when it was, was from the pictures of this happy day!

So the film wasn't as old as the black and white film but STILL, almost a year.

The rest of these pictures are from my garden.  I never would have been able to figure out how old this film was with just these pictures.  I will often end a roll of film in my backyard.

And to finish off the roll, a rare self portrait.

Finding these two rolls of film got me thinking about the time delay difference between digital and film.  With digital, the image is instant.  Right there.  You see how it turned out and you can tweek it on the spot.   Film always requires some kind of a delay.  Sometimes, it is just an hour from ending your shoot and getting the film back.  Sometimes, it is days.  It would be days when I processed it myself in a lab because I would have to wait until I had time to go into the lab.  In these cases, it was measured in months and years.

I'm thinking of picking a day sometime this month, and making a "time capsule" roll of film.  A roll to save for a year.  Wouldn't that be a fun tradition?

Puppies in the Snow

I took my puppies out for a couple minutes today to have some fun. They loved being outside and playing in the yard.

Running Through Wild Flowers

After complaining yesterday about how I would rather be traveling around Mexico, I decided to talk my dogs to the local dog park and let them run around.  I grabbed my camera just in case I got inspired.

The park was a mess from all the rain we have been getting.  Parts were flooded and all of it was covered in wild flowers/ weeds.  The dogs loved it and so did my camera.  I can never forget that I live in an amazing place.

Aren't these colors beautiful?

Slice of Life Saturday: Summer Hike

I love my fur babies and I love going on hikes with my wonderful husband. This weekend we all went for a hike together looking for trails that our cub scouts can do with us in a month. It was tons of fun and I think that my puppies loved it too.

Slice of Life Saturday: Scanning Slides

Take a look at these dusty, beautiful slides.
Slice of Life
Right now I'm working on scanning them into my computer for my grandparents. They have been talking about how they want to pull them out and look at them but their slide projector is broken.
Slice of Life
I recently bought a scanner that scans slides so I talked my grandfather into letting me take them all home with me. He must really trust me.
Slice of Life
It has been amazing getting to look at pictures of my family that I've never seen before. Some of them don't seem worth the time to scan but others are totally worth the wait.
Slice of Life
Pictures are like magic to me. A portal through time that I can look through and see what people were like. I'm so glad that my grandfather trusted me with the sacred duty of get scanning these into the computer and preserving them.
Slides
One thing is for sure, with a couple hundred to scan, I'm sure I will have plenty to keep me busy while school is out.

Slice of Life Saturday: 50's Film Shoot

I'm in love with film.  After taking my black and white film class, I couldn't live without my very own film camera so I bought the camera that I was borrowing.  I was so excited to head out and take pictures and luckily, I have been planning a shoot for quite some times with my favorite almost sister-in-law.
We decided to have a 50's photo shoot and I must say that I love it.

Slice of Life Saturday: Sunny Morning

My husband and I spent the morning today setting up for a Songkran (Thai New Year) party. This was a perfect moment that I got to capture of my husband relaxing with the dogs. I love my little family so much!  I'm so happy that the sun is starting to come out more and letting us play.
Slice of Life

I will have more on the party later. Didn't know that I grew up in Thailand? Yeah, I don't like to brag that I've had an amazing life the last 22 years.

Slice of Life Saturday: Indian Fabric

I have two Indian dresses that I got while I was overseas but I have no real reason to wear them.  I decided to pull one of them out and take some pictures.

Snow Day in March

I use to think that snow all the way in March was crazy.  How could there be snow all the way in March?
But it did give me a chance to take some pictures of the snow that I didn't get when I was feeling totally down because of the cold weather.
